About Dr. Ulaunda Ballard

Dr. Ballard is a Psychotherapist, Researcher, Educator, and Holistic Health Advocate. She has a Ph.D. in education with specializations in various areas such as women’s studies, child psychology, schizophrenia, global/cultural studies, and educational policy. Throughout her educational journey, she has focused on diversity initiatives, social justice, mental healthcare reform, and spiritual health.

Dr. Ballard also has a Master’s Degree in Social Work and practices Mind-Body Transformational Psychology. As a psychotherapist, she can assist people of all ages and guide them in their quest for a deeper understanding of themselves. She is known as a “tell-it-like-it-is” ambassador for social justice related to psychosocial wellness. Dr. Ballard believes that for us all to live our best lives, we must practice authenticity daily and feel comfortable living in our truth. She has previously worked alongside Dr. Lynn Kesselman with the Five Gates program, practicing the Science of Healing the Spirit therapeutic modality.

Dr. Ballard has been recognized nationally and internationally as an educator, social justice advocate, and humanitarian. These experiences helped her understand how unhealed trauma can trigger unwarranted nonsensical behavior when certain events happen. Therefore, she likes to help people deal with past trauma so that there aren’t any unexpected triggers that will get in the way of them achieving their goals. This is why she takes assisting others in healing from trauma seriously before proceeding deeper through their purpose path.

Experience Abroad 

Dr. Ballard went through a self-discovery process where she “relearned” her own cultural identity, which provided her with a critical understanding of identity, status quo, and the politics of difference. She studied and traveled throughout West Africa, Asia, and Western Europe to understand the world better along with different cultures, policies, and practices while doing community service. In 2001, Dr. Ballard was inducted into the African American Hall of Fame as a youth leader for her dedication to community service at home and abroad.

Specializations

In academia, Dr. Ballard’s specialty areas include teaching about global perspectives, understanding the relationship between power, privilege, and oppression, and facilitating dialogues about diversity and social justice. She has organized and attended numerous conferences and seminars in the United States, Asia, West Africa, and Europe during her academic career. Research topics discussed at various conferences include distinctive facets of colonialism and its consequences, globalization, transnationalism, post-modernity, racialization, critical race theory, an understanding of antidisestablishmentarianism, and other sensational philosophical topics of interest.

Dr. Ballard’s other business affiliations

She is the co-founder of Ballard Health Inc, founder of Gaia’s Organic Skin Care (https://gaiasbodycare.com/), and franchise owner of Heritage Makers publishing company. She was also CEO of S’sassy Entertainment Group (SEG), which specialized in producing video content for non-profit sectors and pedagogical purposes in academic settings.
